Summary of Incident:

• Date/Time: July 9, 2025, approximately 11:18 AM ET
• Location: Major Deegan Expressway near 233rd Street. Bronx, NY
• My Vehicle: 2016 Blue Volvo S60, CT Plate DIGITAZ
• Other Driver: Jeannette Socorro Kissairys, 2014 Black Honda CR-V, NY Plate LHC 1114
• Fault: Unsafe lane change into my vehicle
• Evidence: Dashcam video with timestamps, high-res photos, professional repair quote, and audio confirmation
• Damage to My Vehicle: 3 minor surface ripples (Paintless Dent Repair: $150–$200)
• Damage to Other Vehicle: Fender damage inconsistent with this incident; likely pre-existing

On July 9, 2025, at approximately 11:18 AM, I was driving southbound on the Major Deegan Expressway near 233rd Street in the Bronx. Traffic was backed up due to an earlier accident, and only the left lane was moving, with emergency vehicles already on the scene. I merged into the left lane with my turn signal on, which is clearly visible in the dashcam footage. Please note: The correct date and time of the incident is July 9, 2025, at 11:18 AM Eastern Time.

Once in the left lane, I was traveling behind a semi-truck at approximately 8 to 11 miles per hour, matching its speed consistently. As I proceeded, I was passing the four vehicles on the right as seen in the Dash Cam footage. At no point did I change speed, lane, or position in a way that could have misled surrounding drivers.

As traffic began to clear, my speed increased slightly to 11–14 MPH in tandem with the semi-truck. At that point, I had nearly passed the fourth vehicle, a black Honda CRV driven by Jeannette Socorro Kissairys as she made an unsafe lane change without checking clearance and struck the rear passenger-side quarter panel of my car. This is clearly documented in the dash cam footage.

We safely moved ahead into the right lane in front of the accident.

A firefighter on the scene informed us they will not process this accident and the previous accident area was being cleared and advised us to proceed to the 230th Street exit to assess the situation.

We both went to the closest exit to assess the situation.

The other driver claimed that I had suddenly accelerated. Dashcam footage confirms that my vehicle was maintaining a consistent 8 mph – 11mph, then 14mph as the truck and myself were clearing the accident. I was safely following the semi-truck. At no point did I create space or maneuver to allow the other 4 vehicles to merge into my lane. The 4th driver clearly merged into my lane.

Upon initial inspection on 230 St, I noted light surface/ black black rubbing on my vehicle, but no dents, wheel damage, or broken parts. I started cleaning off the black marks to inspect.
I noticed that there was damaged to her car but I was suspect that had that just happened, my car would have serious quarter panel damage.

I documented the other driver’s license and license plate. At the time, I did not believe the damage to my car warranted further action.

Upon closer review the next day, I found three minor surface ripples consistent with a low-speed impact from the plastic trim on the CRV, which is repairable using Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) at an estimated cost of $150-$200. I went to 7 Dents in Milford CT and spoke to Vitali Kalinski, the owner on 7-18-2025

The dashcam footage also includes the following relevant timestamps:

Please note: The correct date and time of the incident is July 9, 2025, at 11:18 AM Eastern Time.

  • 11:18:23 Left turn signal engaged
  • 11:18:24 Passing white suv
  • 11:18:39 Passing red suv
  • 11:18:42 Passing 1st black suv
  • 11:18:43 2nd Black suv begins merging into my lane quickly
  • 11:18:44 Continuing to merge into my lane
  • 11:18:45 It appeared I passed the vehicle
  • 11:18:46 Point of contact with my vehicle’s rear quarter panel and wheel

Again, Please note: The correct date and time of the incident is July 9, 2025, at 11:18 AM Eastern Time.

Supporting evidence includes photographs showing:

  • My car maintaining a constant distance from the semi-truck over several seconds
  • The progression of speeds from 8 to 11 mph with a jump to 14mph in anticipation of clearing the scene
  • The proximity of the black vehicle at the time of the lane merge
  • The location and scale of minor damage sustained
  • the preexisting damage to the black suv

Wrapup:

While the damage to my vehicle is minimal and valued at approximately $150-$200, the video and photographic evidence clearly support that the other driver was at fault for initiating an unsafe lane change and making contact with the rear of my car.

I was informed at the scene I was at fault and I sped up

Given the very limited damage to my car (three small ripples), I conclude that much of the damage shown in Jeannette’s submitted photographs likely predates this incident. The level of force from the contact was very low, as confirmed by the video and audio recording. I would have sustained considerable damage based the photos of her CRV.

On reviewing the images she sent, there are two distinct black marks visible on the bottom plastic of her drivers side lower skirt on the bumper. These correspond to having contact with my wheel (top of my wheel is 23″), which had black markings that I later removed. My wheel and surrounding area show no damage corresponding to the damage on her Suv, the plastic trim piece around her fender is most likely what caused the three ripples in my panel and upon closer inspection of the video and pictures, was also pre existing as seen in the last close up Picture.

In conclusion, all available evidence — visual, mechanical, and expert analysis — confirms this was a low-speed sideswipe caused solely by the other driver’s unsafe lane change. The accident was the fault of Jeanette in The Honda CRV. The visible metal damage on her SUV suggests that any such damage was pre-existing

Shape of my wheel matches clean area on lower area.
No Damage due to plastic on metal. She barely hit me. Taken 7-18-2025

3 minor ripples. Easy fix

The Yellow area is previous damage. The red Area is what I believe came in contact with my car. All I did was buff it out except for the 3 ripples

After cleaning and inspecting no damage or paint swap other than the 3 ripples from other vehicle. Taken 7-18

Best 2nd shot using PDR dent sheet showing ripples

Best guess, the trim damage was already there
